Law of Vision

Ignite Forward Movement

Businesses that lack clear vision tend to wander aimlessly. Rather than following a straight and navigated path leading toward a specific destination, they will take the ant's path of zigzagging along the ground, scavenging for business and employees who come upon the scene more by happenstance and luck than by execution.

The organization that operates without a clear sense of vision may be recognized by some of the following characteristics:

> Employees who spend all of their time putting out "brush fires” or focusing on past problems
> Employees who attend to duties that should have been taken care of by someone else
> Few opportunities for upward movement among employees, resulting in low morale
> High employee turnover with business leadership regularly working overtime to compensate
> No perceivable changes in a company's growth or methods
> Owners' lack of awareness of the company's financial health or unrealistic financial expectations

A company's vision is its life's blood. Without it, there is no sense of purpose or catalyst for innovation. But having it inspires creativity and presents a consistent backdrop against which any decision can be tested, measured and weighed.
